Keeping Your Weight Loss Diet Even As You Dine Out

Published by at 3:02 pm under Health and Wellness

Dieters say that dining out is among the top reasons why they fail to follow their weight loss diet plans. I don’t really agree with that because I think I would have had better chances to control my appetite if I was working in an office building and I would have to spend a lot every time I dine out. When you’re at home however, the refrigerator and your food supplies are always just within your reach and so you can always prepare instant meals and delicious treats with a much cheaper cost. Anyway, let’s not make this about me. lol. People say that dining out ruins their dieting and so, here are some tips to help you maintain your diet even as you dine out…

1. When you dine out, start your meals with soup and drink a lot of water.
2. Order little by little – no need to order everything you might want from the menu all at once.
3. If you have promised yourself to eat less, box up half of the meal you’re ordering before you start to eat. Another option would be to share your meals with your companion.
4. Eat your meal slowly and savor the meal – this will help you control how much you’re ordering and eating.
5. Skip the food you don’t really like. For example, if you ordered fries and it goes cold, don’t force yourself to eat it – or if you ordered ice cream and it already melts, don’t drink the melted cream.
6. If you know you will be dining out for dinner, take a light meal during lunch.
7. Make sure the sauces, gravy, cream, or salad dressings are served on the side and not directly mixed with your food. This way, you can control how much of this high-calorie add-ons can you mix with your food.

I have heard that a Mediteranian diet is best. They are rich with nuts, beans, fish and healthy oils/fats (such as olive oil)

Will keep these in mind. Thanks for posting. I tend to binge especially when we’re at a running sushi restaurant :) I’d probably stay away from that too… :D
