Divorce is the termination of a marriage and all associated legal and matrimonial bonds or responsibilities. It is the dissolution of the union on a personal and legal basis. The legal nature of divorce has been around for thousands of years. It was around at least during the time of the ancient Romans, and has been around ever since. Divorce evolves over time. The laws regarding it change as new ones are made and old ones are changed.

Same-sex Divorce
Same-sex marriage is a constant debate. Some favor it, others oppose it, and all watch the legal wrangling. Several states have legalized gay marriage over the past decade or so, and with gay marriage comes gay divorce.
Depending on the statistics, the divorce rate among gay couples is comparable to the rate for heterosexual couples. Some studies show a lower rate, while others show a higher rate. Same-sex marriage and divorce is still relatively new, so more reliable statistics will come in the future.
